We rented the space that was to become Catland Vintage in November 2020. The space was occupied by a cobbler store for the past 27 years or so, and an array of businesses before that. The building is more than 100 years old. The electrical work was outdated to say the least, and the walls were covered with wood. Really, everything was covered with wood. The floors were torn up and carpet was glued to the floor. Some wood was kept in place, and the majority was donated to local residents for their own projects. Once we started stripping the walls, we were able to see an earlier historic color used in the 40's or 50's. To help preserve the integrity of the space, we matched that color and used it for our color scheme.
The photos are a good indication, but they don't convey the dust and smells the space held! We shudder to think of the hours spent transforming the space, but we're really excited and a little proud to see what it has become. A big thanks to those who lent a hand along the way!
